Ok, it's time for all "Bored At The Beach" readers to come clean. I want to know some of the CHEESIEST cd's that are part of your collection. I know there are at least FIVE that you hide or are a little ashamed of. CD's that you bought back in the day but cringe when you come across them now. I own about 1300 cd's, so I have quite a few cheesy ones. Here's my Hall Of Shame:
Rick Astley- Yeah, I actually own this! Back in the day, "Never Gonna Give You Up" was a big hit and so was "Together Forever." Looking back, this CD is a disgrace.
Debbie Gibson- A local Long Island girl, Debbie was hot stuff back in the late 80's/early 90's. Come on, we all loved "Shake Your Love" and got teary eyed over "Lost In Your Eyes."
Milli Vanilli- Girl, you know it's true, that C-Mac owns this one. At the time, this CD was ass kickin'. Who cares who was really singing? "Blame It On the Rain" "Girl You Know It's True" and "Baby, Don't Forget My Number" were pretty good tunes.
Bobby Brown- Wife beater, crack addict, and a pretty good dancer. Bobby Brown was all over the radio back in the 1988-1991 days. "Every Little Step" "Don't Be Cruel" and "On Our Own" were HUGE hits. Not to mention his slow jams, and pipe laying tunes. He was the R. Kelly of the 80's.
Color Me Badd- Ok, I admit it, I own the Color Me Badd CD. I actually saw them on a rerun of 90210 like a month ago. We ALL cranked up "I Wanna Sex You Up" back in the summer of '91!! The other big hits were "I Adore Mi Amore" and "All For Love." It really does not get any worse than Color Me Badd, unless of course, you own a New Kids CD, just ask the Sugar V!!!

Hootie was pretty good actually....Will Smith, now that's bad! :)
I'm not really ashamed of any but one of my CD's and it is the Hanson CD with MmmBop, though it was bought for me as a joke I still own it.
CDs others might wish me to pretend I did not own:
1)Vanilla Ice, I still love him!
2)The Best of 60's Mellow (great collection of songs!)
3)Julio Iglesias, the special edition four CD box set
1. I have the Barry Manilow box set. Yes I do, and I am not ashamed. I love me some Barry.
2. I have Vanilla Ice, and really, Ice Ice Baby is a great song. No really.
3. My husband has Ace of Base, the worst "band" ever.
I think the rest of my cd's kick ass.
Molly, Molly, Molly, Julio??? ;)
Jerseygirl, I actually have Ace of Base too....they were not too bad at the time! :)
My husband affectionaltely refers to my shelves of CDs as "The Museum of Shite Music." Honestly, I don't know what he's on about...
Oh, Yanni! Dust that one off...
Yanni is going to be tough to beat!
Do I get an extra point for each one of his CDs I have?
sure, i will award you the 30 points, hahaha
I also have everything Barry Manilow has ever done. HUGE fan!
Some I consider embarrassing...
1) Tiffany - I think it was back in high school, but nonetheless, she had no talent.
2) Whitney Houston's early stuff. I remember going into clubs on a fake ID and asking the DJ to play I Wanna Dance With Somebody. I loved it!
3) ANYTHING Sean Cassidy! I was absolutely convinced I would marry him one day, and then was pissed when he married the C&R Clothiers ho.
4) Survivor - all of them.
5) Helen Reddy's Greatest Hits - I still listen to it. I took my daughters out once with their friends and wouldn't let anyone out of the car until everyone could sing every word of I Am Woman, and someone had to sing back up.
6) The sountrack to Stayin' Alive. Enough said.
HELEN REDDY! Bridget, i think this beats Yanni!
I really don't know what all I have, which is part of the problem.
I have the LeAnn Rimes version of "How Do I Live?" single.
Tom Jones.
Basia. (If anyone else even remembers who she is.)
Barbie Girl.
And I too, rocked the Ace of Base.
Pearl Jam - hippie idiots
Some Much Music compilation - just bad
Aerosmith - all their songs sound exactly the same
The Eagles - classic rock badness
Don Johnson - I was in grade six...
I've recently been buying bad CD's on purpose this year. I have shades of love karoake...that's about as bad as it gets...
I bow down at the cheesiness of Helen Reddy and take myself out of the running...
Can't say I've made too many cheesy choices(in my book anyway)
wow, no MENUDO postings yet! :)
Come on, Charlie -- confession is good for the soul..
I have tainted love. I am sure a dork!
Its a toss up between Gary Glitter and Eddie Murphy's My girl like to Party all the time and thats on vinyl. OoOoOoooo the right stuff...
I don't have a lot of cheesy stuff on CD. Aqua's "Aquarium" might qualify there, but I bought it for "Barbie Girl" knowing ahead of time how cheesy it was, how totally Danish it was, and what limited play it would get here (only on a lark for the cheesiest of fun) amongst friends, during Cinco de Mayo. There's also one really horrible Dan Fogelberg album on CD that turned out to be a goddamn country album, instead of his usual good stuff.
But I do have some really horrible stuff on vinyl, that heaven only knows why it appealed to me at the time. K.C. & the Sunshine Band tops my vinyl list. Three of those. The rest of my vinyl collection is okay, and yes, I still have a good turntable on which to play my vinyl.
Josh Groban, and if you laugh I'm gonna swipe that Yankees hat right off 'yer head and smack you with it :)
I LOVE NEIL DIAMOND. There...I said it...are you HAPPY??
Plus, I love Run DMC, I have their greatest hits on CD. The sad part is I bought it like 5 months ago. "It's tricky to rock around to rock around all night on time It's TRICKY...tricky tricky tricky tricky." Gotta go dance now..c-ya.
Okay I'll admit it!
(1) Both of the Spice girl CDs....as sad as that is.
(2) Big Willy Style by Will Smith, although Gettin Jiggy With it still makes me laugh!
(3) Grease Soundtrack, and it's still fun to sing those songs at the top of your lungs!
(4) TLC Crazy Sexy Cool, the one with Waterfalls on it...and that was pretty much the only song...
(5) Billy Ray Cyrus, although sad enough, I bought that one as a tape and it broke, but I did own it at one time.
I actually own ABBA, Juice Newton, and a Kenny Rogers CD! That's all I am willing to confess!
I finally win somethng and it's the cheesiest CD collection?
I need to get a life.
By the way, as much as I hate to give up the only contest I've ever won, I think anything by Eddie Murphy should be considered a tie, if not the hands down winner! :)
Steph, you definitely win, Helen Reddy takes the cake! Eddie Murphy is close....but I have to award Helen Reddy and you the win here!
So I still win, huh?
Alright - I'LL TAKE IT!!! :)
Debbie Gibson
Helen Reddy
Tiffany
Wang Chung
Wilson Phillips
I realise the contest is over but I feel like I need to offload my deep, dark CD collection secrets!
1) Joey Lawrence
2) Jeremy Jordan
3) MC Hammer
4) New Kids on the Block
5) ABBA Gold
Oh how I wish I had just made that up to be funny...
Loz :)
Who the f@*! is Helen Reddy?
Jen, trust me, the fact that you don't know means you're way too cool for this contest! :)
What do you think this crowd would do with a Phil Shane CD?
THAT would win, hands down!
