Reader Appreciation Day!

I am declaring today "Bored at the Beach" reader appreciation day! I want to start by thanking everyone who stops by in their daily travels. You have all made this blogging experience a great deal more fun than I ever thought it would be. I've always enjoyed writing, but doing it in this forum has been a fun and rewarding experience. I enjoy everyone's comments and perspectives on all the topics I've posted. I've agreed with many comments and disagreed on a few, but that's the great thing about blogging. We all get to voice our opinions without fear of judgment and we do so in a respectful manner. But, you get the occasional "anonymous" douchebag with no balls who feels he/she can make stupid comments and hide behind their screen, it's all part of the fun. It's really great to hear about all of your experiences and how you relate to mine. I look forward to many more blogging weeks/months/years to come!

When I first started this blog back on January 13th, I only had a few readers. The Sugar V got me started on this blog and would come by and post his usual wise crack comments. Supplymadam has been a loyal reader since day one also. Then Bridget and Molly came along and it just started to attract more and more readers. I've gotten to know many of you and I check in on what's going on in your lives daily by reading your blogs. It's been a real pleasure getting to know so many fine people. For you first time readers, be sure to check out my links to the left. There are so many great blogs listed there. Some are full of humor, some showcase a more serious side of life, and some are a combination of both. Definitely check them all out!

In honor of "Reader Appreciation Day" I am going to field questions from all of you today. Maybe there is something about me you'd like to know or maybe you'd like to know the background behind something I've written in the past. Also, feel free to tell me what you like and don't like about this site! It's your day, so chat it up!!!! Nothing is off limits today. Be sure to vote for me by clicking on the brown box to the left if you are a big fan of the site to keep my rankings at a respectable level!! :)

Does your work know you blog during working hours, or is it the type of job that it doesn't matter?

Charlie Mc said...

we have about 5 people that blog here. The higher ups don't know, but it does not interfere with my work. I always get things done as they are brought to me and always make my job my prioroty. I suppose if I did not get my stuff done and I was slacking, someone would say something or notice. I am pretty efficient with my work and always make sure I am quick and accurate. This is just a sidebar here at work, but I drop everything when work needs to get done..... :) Good question :)

By the way, thanks for appreciating us. It's a nice deterrent from my gov't job. Isn't it good to know your dollars are hard at work ;).

I am glad you actually liked blogging. Now many people can hear your rants that I hear everyday. The only question I have is: Why do you think that "guy" with the "sports periphenalia" likes my sharp looking shirt?

Charlie Mc said...

IS THAT THE DUDE YOU WENT TO THE "PRIDE" PARADE WITH...NO THAT'S THE OTHER GUY WITH THE SAUSAGE.

Right before I stumbled onto your blog (hell, I don't even remember how I got here! lol), I was kind of in a "rut" - there were about 10-15 blogs I knew of and read pretty regularly, but it just was kind of same old shit type thing. I couldn't think of anything to write about or say.... through your blog, I found lots of other cool ones and feel like I've branched out a lot and have also gotten a lot of ideas from reading others' blogs. So, thanks dude! If I ever get to NY you owe me a beer, or something! :)

Charlie Mc said...

Miss Vicki! Thanks for the compliments......

Wow, going back to 5/28! hahahaha Tatiana and I share a 3 bedroom house together in Long Beach. Don't you think I would have mentioned a wife to everyone by now? hahahaha

Marie said...

Charlie - I'm so happy that I found your blog. It's definitely one of those that I read on a daily basis. I appreciate the honesty, authenticity, HUMOR and overall tone of your blog as well as your writing style.

I have a few questions for you:
* Why do you love to write?
* What do you love most about your life right now?
* What is the biggest goal you want to accomplish in the next year?

Charlie Mc said...

Oh, Miss V....if you ever make a trip to NY I'll be sure to get you that beer, or something! :)

Charlie Mc said...

Marie, you are the Barbara Walters of blogging! hahaha, good questions!

I write to express myself. Before the blog, I wrote songs. iw ould write about stuff that was happening in my life, love, heartache, etc. I started this to just get out random and wacky ideas and observations. I was surprised when people started coming on here and enjoying what they read. I am glad you find it enjoyable!

What I love most about my life right now is that I feel I am at a point where I see things differently than I did even 2 years ago. I've learned from my experiences and they have molded me into a good person. I enjoy making an impact on other people's lives and doing what I can to help the people around me. that gives me the most joy.

The biggest goal in the next year is to leave my current employer. Although I have learned here and made friends with many people, I am not challenged at all. I would like to step into something that challenges me and go someplace that brings out more of my creativity and innovative skills.

Great questions!

Marie said...

Hehehe...I try. ;)

You posted great answers to my questions. Thank you for sharing. :)

Darcey said...

I know. You were starting to get worried that I wasn't going to comment or ask you a question or something. Admit it, the thought crossed your mind. Your palms got clammy and you broke out into a cold sweat. Your heart raced. Oh. My. God. The. Muse. Hasn't. Commented. Yet.

Well, sunshine, rest easy. I am here. And with a question. :)

What is your idea of a perfect date?

erl said...

and me dont forget about me!

Charlie Mc said...

Liz, how could I forget you and your great site?

MUUUUUSE!!!! How did you know I was sweaty and nervous????

A perfect date to me involves a nice setting, a great meal, some wine, a ton of conversation which involves silliness, deep talk, and maybe a little debate. Of course it involves good chemistry, a nice flow, comfortable silence, and great kisses!

Darcey said...

Actually, I need to personally thank Liz, who, although I have no idea how she found me, was essential in eventually leading me over to this site.

(I'm still curious as to how she found me, if she even remembers.)

CMac - That sounds like a pretty good date. Especially the debating part. ;)

Charlie Mc said...

LIZ!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you for linking me to the MUSE!!!! You rock!!! AND we love your site too...it's a great mix of everything....serious topics to silly stuff...we look forward to it!

WordWhiz said...

How do you keep your head from swelling to the point of EXPLODING when being buried in this much praise???

Charlie Mc said...

Wordwhiz!!!!! I don't get cocky about stuff like this...I am the one who's thankful and humbled that all of you take time out of your day to visit and participate in my nonsense!!!!

Dawn said...

I voted!

Questions:

1.Do you blog naked??? :)
2.What part of a woman do you find most attractive?

P.S.~ I love your blog!

Charlie Mc said...

Thanks very much Independentgrl! I appreciate the kind words!

Now for the answers to your questions:

1) I would give up smell. I love food too much to give up taste, love music too much to give up hearing, seeing is obvious, touch would be tough to give up becaus eof everything you come in contact with....like a beautiful woman! :)

2)I could not live without music. No doubt on that one. I live for music!

3)Sure there are uncool things about me. I can be impatient and moody at the drop of a hat. I also think that my way of doing things is best sometimes before I give someone else's idea a chance.

Great questions!

Charlie Mc said...

Hi Dawn!!!! Thanks for your comment and for reading my nonsense as often as you do!

To answer your questions:

I've blogged in my boxer-briefs but never naked....yet. :)

I find so many things attractive about a woman....her laugh, eyes, sense of humor, intelligence, honesty, and her kindness. From a purely physical standpoint, I am an ass man!!! I love a nice ass! :)

Darcey said...

Good question, Dawn!

You haven't blogged naked? Really? Okay, I know I'm a rarity, as I happily discuss the adventures of Nekkid Blogging, but that's probably because, at least in the comfort of my own room, I don't see the point in being clothed.

Okay, enough sharing...

Charlie Mc said...

more sharing MUSE! :)

Darcey said...

You're a bad influence. And I'm not telling you anything else about the nakedness. Shame on you.

Back to watching the Family Guy parody of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. (Seriously? Hilarious. It centered around beer instead of chocolate. And the "Oompa-Loompas" were called "Chumba-Wumbas.")

Wow, I can't believe how many people are curious about you Charlie. See, I'm not the only one with a little crush. :)

Maybe I should come up with some questions now that you have volunteered to answer...

What is your favorite childhood memory?
My is running through a soft feild of bluebonnets bare foot in the spring time while trying to catch fireflies. The sweet smell of bluebonnets and the cool spring breeze always brings me back to those days.

I just found your blog the other day from a guy who has a link to you on his blog who happened to post on mine. Great stuff! You have an interesting outlook on life (although, I can't believe I just said that to a Yankee fan).

(I admit, though, after reading just a couple entries, I'd assumed you were gay and Bruce was your boyfriend. Oops!)

Hope you don't mind me stopping by.

Laurie said...

Geez, CMac...I can't believe all the questions people have for you...I know I have a ton myself, but now that I'm commenting, I can't seem to think of any.

Anyway, for purely personal reasons, I'm glad to hear you're an ass man. Good to know. ;)

Moving on, I wanted to go ahead and add my own little ego stroke to this comment page: I stop by your blog multiple times each day because there's always something funny to read and/or ponder. I check it from work (illegally! Gasp!), and it never fails to keep me entertained in my slow times. Keep up the great work!

Kristi said...

Well i have to say i am disapointed at the lack of the naked blogging. Just cause i like to think everyone is naked till they tell me their not.
Good that The chick from way back is a roomate. Glad to hear that work is a priority. Nice dating expectations. Fabulous to be an Ass man. You love your dog. It just tickles me that his name is Bruce! I never thought you were gay, but have been wondering about your current dating situation.
You are an interesting magnetic individual in writing. I can only assume you must be hypnotic in person!
Your energy and uniqueness is astounding!
I always enjoy the read!
Once again.......
Good to know you!

Charlie Mc said...

Megan, hahahahaha, yes BRUCE is a DOG! hahahaha, thanks for dropping by! I suppose I should start saying "my dog, Bruce!"

Kristi-I don't really mention my dates or that kind of stuff on here because I like to keep things light and funny. I am sure there will be a time where I will make mention of things along those lines.

Laurie-You are definitely one of the best blog writers out there. Your stories are so descriptive that I feel like the events in your posts happened to me! I love coming by and reading what you have posted!

Blue- My favorite childhood memory is any of the times I spent with my grandfather on my mom's side. We were very close and I've never been the same since he died when I was 15. There has not been a day when I have not thought of him. I am thankful for all the times we shared and for the 15 years I spent with him.

Charlie...here's my question: Where were you born?

(a tough one, I know.)

Thanks for thanking us. Your blog is one that I truly, truly look forward to reading every day!! (although right now this Sims thing is taking up all my time...I have to balance that with reading and posting other stuff too. Oh poor me. ;) )

You are going to be in the next family...with ME!! (sorry girls...)

Charlie Mc said...

Thanks Panther! I love your blog too, I love the old stories, the old pictures, it's well done!!!!

To answer your question, i was born at Good Samaritan Hospital in West Islip, NY!
