Keeping Busy

Ok, time to confess your work sins. Besides blogging, what else do you do at work when it's "slow" and you have no work to do? Sugar V, we know what you do, but you can still comment. I usually make fun of the Sugar V, listen to music, talk most of the day (to people here), e-mail my friends, and clean my office. Fun huh? It's weird but I never talk on the phone here except for work-related stuff. I talk enough on the phone at home, I need a break......

Ok, what do you do at work when it's slow....come clean!

Being that I am a personal trainer, we work on an appointment basis. We sometimes have 15-30 minute breaks in between clients. I use those breaks to work out, eat, use the bathroom, read, comment on your blog, stuff like that. We have music on in the gym all the time which is good.

Howdy Charlie :o). Your blog looks nice. When work is slow, I .... (thinking).... read peoples' blogs, yaawwwwwwwn or open up a chat window. Mind you, I do all these things to come back to consciousness. Often I succeed :o). C ya.

Hmmm.. talk to VK & Kari. Talk to my coworkers about random things (gossip, house buying, guys). Walk up to CVS to kill some time. Blog. Read the archives of blogs. Tap my fingers until someone else updates. Read celebrity gossip. Talk to VK & Kari some more.

I spend most of my day fantasizing about C-Mac banging me long and hard.

What don't I do when the boss is away? :) I watch tv, surf the net, read books, take naps, go run errands, etc. It's a miracle I get any actual work done in this office!

The checkbook is a must, but I get tons of catalogs at home, so I bring 'em to work. Mostly, I have to look busy to the co-workers, so being on the computer at least gives the appearance of working, which means sometimes have to do a quick change of screens when they come in to close in the cubie.

I have to confess, being I work from home(I still do work, thank you). I will run to the store or go sit out on my deck. Somtimes I'll play with the dog. And sometimes I will prepare(not cook)stuff for dinner. I tried cooking while I work and it doesn't work out because I'll get busy and not be able to get back to what I was cooking. I do have the liberty of making Dr. appoinments during work without having to get approval. Hey I have no reason to complain. A couple of times I will meet a client for lunch(Applebees)which I am due for real soon. Maybe next week. Or go see a client if they need furniture because I may have to bring color swatches or do some measuring. See I really do work.

I fill up VK's inbox. AIM with Spocker, clean the office, read the newspaper in the lobby, surf for new jobs.

Since my territory covers half the state, I used to be able to get away with a "windsheild survey" of the county. I basically I would just go drive around for a while, end up at home and call it work.

I blog and since I am an email-aholic I write long winded diatribes to all of my friends. If I still have extra time I stare at the clock and practice my jedi mind tricks in an attempt to make time move more quickly.

Today one of the attorneys was sporting one of those mobile ear-pieces for his cell phone, so all the other attorneys made up similar ones out of clips, post-its, and such things - it's our little way of having fun 'round here - well, before we start drinking, that is :)

I play online Scrabble! I usually have three games going at once.

I also take care of all my personal shit like making doctors' appointments, filing my medical forms, making car service appointments...you know, all of the stuff my WIFE would do if I had one.

I need a wife.

Well...today I spent some time putting together a list of trivia questions for my upcoming retro party. I can't check my home email from work - it's blocked. Access to a lot of stuff is blocked. (Not Blogger yet!) I guess lately, when I'm not working I'm planning my party (this Saturday - 47 guests, DJ, caterer...yes, I'm stressing!) I booked a cruise last week. I'm planning two in 2006 and I've already booked one! (Deal I couldn't pass up, so I booked early.)

Hey Panthergirl,

That's funny about yor needing a wife. I always say that too. I said it to a lady parked next to me at Pathmark over the holidays when we both piling our holiday food items in the car.
