Last night we all had a debate as to why "the runs" are called the runs. I say it is because you "run" back and forth to the bathroom to crap. My friends insist it is because the crap "runs" out of you, usually in the form of diarrhea.
Ok, you decide. I say it is the act of running to the toilet.
When I was young, it seemed that life was so wonderful, a miracle, oh it was beautiful, magical. All the birds in the trees, well they'd be singing so happily, joyfully, playfully watching me. But then they sent me away to teach me how to be sensible, logical, responsible, practical. And they showed me a world where I could be so dependable, clinical, intellectual, cynical. There are times when all the world's asleep, the questions run too deep for such a simple man.

I personally don't think there is a wrong answer here. Either way something is running!
Well doesn't this just open up a whole can of worms? The shits is when its runny, and the runs is because you run to the bathroom. Two totally different things. You can have the shits and be done in a few minutes. The runs keep you going back over and over.
You can still go out of the house with the shits, you call off work for the runs!
