My first post of October...and it is almost over. :(
A year from now, I will be a married man. Five years ago, or even two years ago for that matter, the thought never crossed my mind. But, when the person is right, the time in your life is right, you know.
Jen and I will be getting married on Labor Day Weekend next year...the Sunday of Labor Day Weekend to be exact. 9/6/2009. We thought it would be a good time, and a good day for friends and family that have to travel, to have the next day off.
So, we have been planning the event. We booked the place, the photographer, the DJ, who I am going to micro-manage, because nothing will be played that we don't want. We will have a complete playlist to give him a couple of weeks before the wedding...we already worked that out. I mean come on....I am Mr. Music...I don't want the typical, cheesy wedding songs being played.....
Being that Jen is vegan, we are in the process of picking our wedding cake baker. The good part about shopping around for a baker are all the samples we get to taste! We have had some good stuff so far.....
Let me see, what else...we still have to pick out/buy rings...figure out transportation to and from the wedding. We are having our ceremony at the same place the reception will be...so that part is easy. We decided not to have a wedding party. We talked and we both came to the conclusion...what does a maid of honor a best man, and a bunch of other wedding party people really do? We felt we did not want to have to make people spend money on dresses that they will probably only wear once.....what's the point? We are trying to make this wedding different from most we've seen. We are coming up with a theme...we've thrown a few ideas out there both sober and drunk...so we have to weed out what we are really serious about....and what we aren't. Should be interesting. We still have lots to do!
Below are pics of where we are getting married:

congrats!!! that place is soooo beautiful!!!!! Its also awesome to throw the wedding you both want, not what's 'expected'. you'll be so much happier that way!
I didn't consider marriage much either before meeting Charlie. It had never been a priority for me, like it is for some women. It took meeting the right man to realize how great it would be to spend each day with him, sharing our lives. I just consider myself very lucky that when I met Charlie, and knew he was the right guy for me, that he thought I was the right girl for him too!
Gorgeous!!
I also love the idea of not having a wedding party... Brilliant.
Glad things are going well, Charlie!
Wow how nice to be involved together I remember when we got married I made all the arrangenments and told my husband when and where.
